Just an unusual sketch I found in my travels on the internet. This is a rosurcurian
disc and is realated to Kaballah and has parallels to Masonry and the 3 pillars.
That’s me cracking the state safe with Wheeler,
PGM Richard P. Rhuland and Jack Hansel as lookouts while we toured the state capitol

The above rendering is an image containing various Masonic elements which I have brought together as a collage….. For which we are contemplating
having printed on the fronts of T-Shirts for purchase by Lodge brothers, friends and family.
Please let us know what you think of the design and whether or not you’d be willing to prepay for a first edition
T-shirt. Brother Tim Hamilton will be handling the actual ordering and
distributing of the final products.

The Story of The Knights Templar
By Sir Knight and Brother, Timothy Hamilton,
Following the victory of the First Crusade a group of knights, led by Hugues de Payens, offered themselves to the Patriarch of Jerusalem as a military force. This proposed military force had the mandate of protecting Christian pilgrims who were en route to the Holy Land In the year 1118 AD King Baldwin II granted the Templars quarters on the Temple Mount. For the first nine years of their existence, the order consisted of nine knights.
Speculations of treasure hunting aside, one of the reasons for the limited number of members may have been the reluctance to take Templar vows. Chastity, poverty and obedience were hardly a lifestyle greatly sought after. In the year 1127 the Cistercian abbot, Bernard of Clairvaux, wrote a rule of order for the Templars that was based on his own Cistercian order's rule of conduct. Additionally, Bernard did a great deal to promote the Templars. Perhaps Bernard's greatest contribution to the order was a letter that he wrote to Hugues de Payens, entitled De laude novae militae (In praise of the new knighthood.)
This letter swept throughout Christendom with the result being that many men, of noble birth, joined the ranks of the Templar Order. Those who were unable to join often gifted the Templars with land and other valuables. While it is true that the Templars were not permitted, by their rule, to own much of anything personally, there was no such restriction on the order as a whole. As such the gifts of land were accepted and put to immediate use by the order. From humble beginnings of poverty in 1118, when the order relied on alms from traveling pilgrims, the Order quickly grew to have the backing of the Holy See and the collective European monarchies. In the process, the order became wealthy. Aside form the gifts showered upon them, they were experts in commerce and free from the taxation and tithes imposed on other orders.
However, in less than two centuries, the Templars would meet their demise perhaps because of their wealth or fear of their seemingly limitless powers. It is generally agreed that Philip IV was envious of the Templar's wealth and sought to secure it for himself. Regardless of the motivation, the order was taken down at the hands of the Pope and the King of France in 1307. On October 13, 1307 Philip had the Templars arrested on grounds of heresy; since this was the only charge that would allow the seizing of their money and assets.
The Templars were tortured and confessions were given. These confessions included:
Trampling and spitting on the cross
Homosexuality and Sodomy
Worshipping of an idol named Baphomet
Philip was successful in ridding the Templars of their power and wealth and urged all fellow Christian leaders to do the same thing. On March 19th, 1314 the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, was burned at the stake. De Molay is said to have cursed King Philip and Pope Clement as he burned, asking both men to join him in death within a year. Whether the story is an apocryphal legend or a matter of historical fact depends largely on one's point of view. However, Pope Clement V died only one month later and Philip IV seven months after that.
(In the next edition of this series we will look at the wardrobe of the modern Knights Templar)

"Greetings Brothers!"
Brothers! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah! Now the New Year is knocking at our inner door! And as it is my first year as your official worshipful master I have many wishes and resolutions I hope we can all keep for the New Year. But first I must lay grandiose praise upon a handful of brothers who gave of themselves aplenty during the previous year and most recently at our spectacular officers’ installation and formal dinner this past 15th of December. If you weren’t at this dinner, my fine brothers, you indeed did miss a meal of historic and epic proportions. It was a fine meal, anchored by nothing less than the finest tasty prime rib steaks lovingly carved from 4 beautiful roasts. 60 pounds of fresh roasts hand selected for superior marbling by brother Jon Shelden and THEN carefully nurtured and basted in hot ovens by brother Bob Louiselle(Mason of the year), until perfectly done….juicy and tender and medium rare. Ahhhhhh! The hand ground horseradish sauce that bro. Jon made as a primo garnish was perfect for the discerning palates of at least 65 satisfied brothers and guests. Of course what would a prime rib meal be without a most impressive display of salads and steamed vegetables and baked potatoes. Brothers! Give it up for Bob and Jon and also the other very fine brothers who worked like dogs to cleanse the lodge both before and after this most excellent and delicious meal. Teamwork such as this can and does get things done.
And as for that installation it was spectacular as well. My thanks go out to the entire Grand Lodge installation team and also a special thanks to the most impressive Knights Templar honor guard. All of you present made this an extra special evening both for myself, my fellow officers and brothers and our families and significant others as well. Our lodge was almost to full capacity and it was a glorious sight to behold. One of my most deepest and sincere wishes for the New Year is to have our lodge full like that, again, with our own brothers. We are growing! And we can do that with your help and effort to come on up to the Lodge at regularly scheduled meetings. And who knows…maybe there will be another fine meal in the schedule. While on the subject of participation it would be a fine gesture if more brothers come out to help at the regular monthly breakfasts as well. This ongoing event is growing and will surely require more and more manpower as word of mouth is beginning to spread the word of the fine meals we routinely prepare. Come on Brothers! Bring it!
On other news our fine lodge completed the charitable year with an extremely generous donation of $1,200 to the South Lyon Active Faith and also another $200 donated to support the South Lyon High School Band. Both Charitable donations were given at the benefit spaghetti dinner a couple of Wednesdays ago. Additionally, it was my honor to make an appearance on behalf of Lodge #319 at Bro. Gordon Hansen’s (Austin Lodge #48) memorial service on 12/17/06. Our condolences go out to his Lodge brothers and his family. And to complete a most very busy weekend, myself, bro. Stewart, and bro. Justin attended the Brighton Lodge officers’ installation.
Cheers Brothers! 2007 at Lodge #319 will be a year to remember in all of our later years. With effort and tight teamwork our Lodge will be as strong as it should be.
Fraternally Yours,
Gregory Hamilton,
Worshipful Master - Pro tem

From the Treasurer's Desk........
From the Treasurer’s desk…..
Brothers, Greetings! Brothers, Greetings! Wow! Now that WAS a dinner to behold! For those present it was a joy and my pleasure to assist the 2006 Mason of the Year and cook extraordinaire, Robert Louiselle! Bravo Dude! All this to
honor our Lodge and our brothers as we move into another year. A year that will surely bring more refinements and efficiency to the task of Treasurer. I am putting the finishing touches on a membership listing and database. I need birth dates, email addresses and other info from all of you to make this detailed listing as accurate as possible. Accuracy is my defining characteristic and you’ll all be pleased to know that the Lodge is in good order financially speaking. Be present at the next Business meeting to learn more. Dues notices have been sent out by our Secretary, Bro Gordon Bunn, PM. Please see to it that these dues are paid as soon as possible so that the Lodge does not waste $$ on repeated mailings begging you for payment. Our money is better spent as charitable donations to the community. I look forward to the new year (my second as Treasurer) being more prosperous and exciting than last year. After being into this Lodge business for more than a year now I have come to learn a few things: 1. This Lodge #319 is a good place. 2. The brothers are a good group of people. 3. We can do great things as a Lodge for the community and for ourselves. 4. There is tremendous room for expansion and improvements in efficiency for Lodge #319.
Indeed Lodge #319 is a good place. It is well located and has history deeply rooted in the community. And if last year was any indicator at all, we will have much more history to write.
On older news I have it on good authority that the house bill to exempt Masonic Lodges from property taxation has now passed through both houses and is now on its way to the Governor’s desk! Woo hoo! It appears our trip to Lansing was not in vain. Yes…I was there as a Lodge #319 representative. See me in the photo (right) attempting to crack into the state safe?
Senator Nancy Cassis (left) deserves praise for her efforts in supporting this fine bill as well.
Well, Brothers, Indeed we are a good group of fellas! I look forward to participating in many future events with you all and I trust the desires are mutual.
Thank you and Fraternally yours,)
Jon Shelden
Treasurer
